| Kaunas is the second biggest city in Lithuania with rich history, beautiful landscape and strong industry. Kaunas has a strategical role from the military and trade perspective because it is established on the confluence of two biggest rivers in Lithuania - the river Nemunas and the river Neris. |

| At present 381 000 people reside in Kaunas territory of 157 sq km, i.e. 2427 citizens reside in one square kilometer. If to compare the density of population to other Lithuania areas, we notice that Kaunas is rather densely populated city. Kaunas is one of the most Lithuanian city from ethnical point of view - more than 90% of inhabitants are Lithuanians. Religion: the majority of inhabitants are Catholics. |
