Anthony May

Anthony D May, Emeritus Professor of Transport Engineering, University of Leeds  

Professor May has over 40 years’ experience in research, teaching and consultancy work in relation to transport planning and traffic engineering. He has been a professor at Leeds University since 1977, and has served as director of the Institute for Transport Studies, head of the Department of Civil Engineering, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and pro-vice chancellor for research. Between 1985 and 2001, he was director of transport policy with MVA Consultancy. Prior to 1977 he spent 10 years with the Greater London Council, where he was responsible for policy on highways, traffic management and transport-related land-use planning for the capital, and managed major studies on traffic restraint, parking policy and motorway traffic control. He was elected to a fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 1995, and was awarded the OBE for services to transport engineering in 2004.  He is currently president of the World Conference on Transport Research Society.

Magdolna Toth Nagy Magdolna Tóth Nagy, Senior Expert, Participatory Governance

Magdolna Tóth Nagy has more than 20 years of extensive professional experience in the field of public participation, stakeholder involvement, good governance and related environmental legal and policy issues, as well as civil society support.  During the two decades, working mainly as the key expert of the Regional Environmental Center (REC), she prepared and published more than 30 different related publications and assessments in the related fields and implemented numerous projects. She was involved in development of international legal instruments such as Aarhus Convention, the UNECE Protocol on PRTR and Protocol on SEA, support to ratification and has also experience in implementation of these instruments and related different EU directives and regulations (e.g. public/stakeholder involvement related to WFD, EIA, SEA, IPPC, E-PRTR and PRTRs). Currently she is an independent consultant.
Sonja Van Rennsen

Sonja van Renssen, Journalist on transport, energy and environment;

Sonja is a Brussels-based freelance journalist specialised in climate change, green energy and transport, and environment. She writes for numerous publications including European Energy Review, Nature Climate Change, European Voice and ENDS Europe, and also hosts web interviews with policymakers for Internet TV site viEUws.

Juan Carlos Escudero

Mr. Escudero, Juan Carlos. BS. in Biology, University of the Basque Country.
As environmental officer he has driven the technical advisory dealing with the participation of CEA in the ENVIROCITY, LACOAST, DIVERS, GMES-GUS, MILES, MUGAGABE and HUMBOLDT projects.
He has research and management experience in local, regional, national and international GIS & RS projects (DGXII, DGVI, JRC, ESA, IGN). He has been involved in the technical advisory of Local Agenda 21 process as well in the European Common Indicators project.
As responsible of the Environmental Information System of Vitoria-Gasteiz, has coordinated data supply and analysis in supporting the technical works of the Sustainable Mobility Plan of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
He has coordinated the elaboration of the Bicycle Master Plan of Vitoria-Gasteiz and the UNEP Vitoria-Gasteiz GEO Report. He was the Thematic Area Scientific Leader and Local Dissemination Manager within the Vitoria-Gasteiz participation in CIVITAS PLUS MODERN.
Since July 2011, Mr. Escudero is the Director of the Environmental Studies Centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

 Kouijzer Mr. Paul Kouijzer - Manager Environment and Mobility
Paul Kouijzer (1962) has been graduated at the Technical University in Eindhoven and also at the Open University. After various functions in the public administration, including the municipality of Spijkenisse as director of Spatial Planning and Management, he has been working since 2008 in the municipality of Utrecht as sector manager Environment and Mobility.
