Pleasant Town - Walkable and Livable City (Tel Aviv, Israel)

This workshop is organised by:  Ministry of Transport, the Municipalities of Tel Aviv Yafo and Jerusalem, CIVITAS CAPITAL, CIVITAS WIKI, the Porter School of Environmental Studies (PSES) at Tel Aviv University and the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design - Department of Urban Design

Aim

This workshop is aiming at enriching participants tool box available for reversing the pyramid of street users - placing pedestrians before private vehicles. Participants shall learn from Europe best practices, experience our own, and have an opportunity to share ideas, which will eventually be translated into applicable guidelines.   

The workshop is divided into three parts:

• Successful examples from Europe, Tel Aviv-Yaffo and Jerusalem. Presentation of successes but also dilemmas, tough decisions and implementation challenges. 
• Walk the Talk , walking and bike tours, focusing on the streets and public spaces earmarked for priority for pedestrians and cyclists. 
• Workshop tools and round tables discussions focused on identifying tool for intervention and policy game changers.
