Summary

Sustainable urban mobility planning is a way of tackling transport-related problems in cities more strategically. The development and implementation of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan aims to reduce negative impacts of transport, improve accessibility and provide high-quality, multi-modal and well-integrated mobility and transport. This course offers an overview of the SUMP concept and its benefits, describes the ever-growing importance of SUMPs in Europe, looks at the procedual elements of the SUMP cycle and identifies the key challenges arising in sustainable urban mobility planning.
