CIVINET Italy was born!

CIVITAS Initiative

A few months have passed from the 16th June 2010, when a delegation from Monza, participated in the kick-off of CIVINet Italy held in the city of Genova. Genova is the promoter of the Italian Network that has been formally constituted and signed during a 2 days conference in Genova (26th and 27th October). The co-founders of the Network, a non-profit association, are the cities of Genova, Monza, Andria, Lucca, Reggio Emilia and Napoli, and other entities, such as associations, research centers, universities, mobility agencies, etc.

The meeting on 26th and 27th of October was the first, official, assembly of the network but the calendar of events that will take place in 2010 and 2011 is already filling up with conferences and workshops that will take place all over Italy. On the 25th the city of Monza together with CIVINET will host a seminar on the management of urban traffic where ARCHIMEDES Monza’s local measure to deal with traffic and congestionwill be shared and discussed with other Italian cities, stakeholders and experts. In fact, the main aim of the national Networks is enhance the collaboration and exchange of experiences between cities which may have a similar context and needs, and which have to consider analogous drivers and barriers when adopting specific measures and tools. The challenge of CIVINET Italy now is to keep on involving more and more the Government, as well as other local entities and relevant stakeholders, and obviously more and more citizens!
