CIVITAS DESTINATIONS brings Madeira its first 100% electric bus

With the help of CIVITAS DESTINATIONs, the island of Madeira will soon have its first 100% electric bus to transport passengers.

On 7 December, a protocol was signed between the Madeira Regional Government and other regional organisations that will bring the Portuguese-made electric CaetanoBus to the roads of the Madeira town and Porto Santo.

This innovative bus is designed to meet Madeira’s sustainability needs, while also being environmentally friendly. Being electric, it has no CO2 emissions and can carry up to 88 passengers at a time. It will enter service at the beginning of next year.

The initiative to introduce the bus to Madeira has been developed as part of the CIVITAS DESTINATIONS project.
