North Denmark follows Aalborg's example

Following the positive experience from the CIVITAS ARCHIMEDES project, the region of North Denmark and the regional public transport authority decided to serve the route between Aalborg and Frederikshavn with coaches running on second generation biodiesel.

The biodiesel will be the same product that 50 of the urban buses in Aalborg have been using since 1 October, 2010. The positive experience with this fuel in Aalborg has led to the technology to now be exploited outside the demonstration project. The region of North Jutland is funding the regional buses and will contribute €70,000 to their operation. North Jutland expects that this will save the equivalent of CO2 emissions from 50 private cars every year.
