Kilkis (Greece)
Kilkis is an industrial city in Central Macedonia, Greece. The city is located at the foot of the hill of Agios Georgios and is the administrative, economic, commercial, and cultural centre of the area. A modern city with very much liveliness and economic activity, banks, a lot of stores, and intense nightlife.
In the first place, our goal concerning mobility is to make the most of our existing infrastructure. To achieve this, we are going to focus on the following points of improvement: reorganize the car parking along the roads and vehicle access to the city centre; improve the pedestrian safety; rethink the road section and public space use; and reorganize circulation measures.
Once we work on that all, there is the need of improving the existing infrastructure, such as parking management and regulations; completion interventions of existing road infrastructures; reorganization of bus routes; and improvement of the pedestrian approach to parks and municipal services.
But we not only are planning to optimize or improve our existing infrastructure, but we also will invest in new infrastructure. This includes: moving the bus station outside the city; including policies that promote sustainable mobility within the building regulations; planning new parking spaces outside the centre of the city; designing new pedestrians routes and bicycle lanes; and building new cycle parking and storage.
