Beasain (Spain)

Beasain is a town and municipality located in the Goierri region of the province of Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country. It spans an area of 30 km2,  and is home to a population of 13,850 people. It has an important industry of railway vehicles and related equipment that exports its production around the world.

The main mobility goals of Beasain are to achieve a more equitable, sustainable, safe and efficient mobility, understood as:

  • Equitable mobility: a mobility model that promotes social cohesion and guarantees the right to mobility for all citizens.
  • Sustainable and healthy mobility: a model that reduces the harm of mobility and its externalities on the environment, residents and users of public space, prioritising active mobility over other means of transport.
  • Safe mobility: a model that reduces accidents and improves road safety.
  • Efficient mobility: a model that efficiently organizes the territory and the activities carried out within, reducing traffic congestion and improving the potential of multimodal mobility and mobility as a service.
