CIVINET Deutscher Sprachraum

The CIVITAS network for the German-speaking region is committed to improving the quality of life and living conditions in cities.

CIVINET Deutscher Sprachraum is organized as a non-profit association whose sphere of activity covers the German-speaking part of Europe. The association is independent of political parties and is committed to improving the quality of life and living conditions in European cities.

To this end, the association informs natural and legal persons from the fields of politics, administration, public and private research institutions as well as organizations entrusted with mobility tasks about current political and economic developments that are important for urban mobility as well as about research funding and available financing instruments, especially at European level.

The association achieves its goals in particular by

  • organizing events on urban mobility topics in German
  • introducing members to the topics, players and learning content of the European CIVITAS Initiative for Clean Urban Transport and comparable initiatives
  • promoting a European discourse on urban transport with other CIVITAS networks

Member Benefits

Members of the CIVINET German-speaking region association receive targeted information on current developments in the CIVITAS initiative and from EU transport and funding policy. By exchanging ideas with colleagues, members gain first-hand insight into different approaches to sustainable urban transport development.

  • CIVINET German Language Area offers a suitable framework for exchange between urban stakeholders in German across national borders and institutional barriers.
  • Together with colleagues, new results of European research funding and available funding instruments can be discussed in a forum of experts.
  • CIVINET offers members of the network the opportunity to get to know the concepts and experiences of other cities better and to learn about European transport policy and planning and its impact on their own situation.

The agenda of the CIVINET German-speaking region association includes events on urban mobility planning (e.g. sustainable city logistics, shared mobility or mobility in urban development), newsletters on current transport policies and relevant EU funding instruments as well as virtual formats for exchanging examples of successful planning practice.
