EU-China Tourism Year comes at auspicious time for CIVITAS DESTINATIONS

The EU-China Tourism Year, launched last month in Venice, comes at an ideal time for CIVITAS DESTINATIONS.

The aim of the Year isto promote the tourism sector and increase the flow of visitors on both sides. This ties in with DESTINATIONS' efforts to promote the six project locations - all tourist islands - as being potential holiday destinations for Chinese tourists.

Since its inception, the project has been engaging with Chinese tourism operators. Part of promotion efforts is the demonstration of sustainable mobility measures and actions being conducted on the islands for tourists and residents alike.

In June, all six DESTINATIONS locations will travel to China for a series of activities together with Chinese cities and companies. This includes a workshop on 22 June in Beijing and a number of technical visits to Chinese cities from 25-28 June.

Building links to China and strengthening international cooperation form a key pillar of CIVITAS DESTINATIONS activities.

EU-China Tourism Year hopes to increase the number of Chinese visitors to the EU by 10% each year. It will support marketing campaigns through public-private partnerships, and encourage business summits and business-to-business meetings for tourism operators.
