Green Week 2013 seeks local air quality events

CIVITAS Initiative

Be part of a Europe-wide campaign and bring better visibility to your local air quality event by linking it to Green Week 2013!

Planning a local event on air quality this summer? Green Week, the biggest annual conference on European environmental policy, is seeking satellite events being organised between 1 May and 30 June 2013 across Europe to be included in the campaign. The European Commission’s DG Environment invites CIVITAS Forum members to apply for ‘Green Week 2013 satellite events’. This year Green Week 2013, a European Commission initiative to be held in Brussels on 4-7 June 2013, will focus on ‘Cleaner air for all’, and is looking for events taking place in towns and cities around Europe to link in with this theme. Please submit a description of your event addressing the theme of ‘AIR QUALITY’, by filling out the online application form here. [Deadline: Friday 1st March 2013, 12:00 (CET)]. Despite progress over recent years, levels of harmful pollutants in densely populated areas of Europe still widely exceed a number of air quality standards. As the European Commission prepares to review its current air quality policy, cities are best-placed to help raise awareness and promote behavioural change among citizens and ultimately improve the air we breathe. Eligible events taking place at local or regional level might include car-free days, conferences, youth workshops, art exhibitions or guided tours, to name a few. Linking your event to Green Week means being part of a Europe-wide campaign and bringing better visibility to your event which, if selected, will be published on the Green Week website. Visit the Green Week 2013 website to find out more. Enter your event before 1 March 2013 here.
