New Bollard System in the City of Burgos

CIVITAS Initiative

Past 15th September the Lord Mayor of Burgos inaugurated the first one of the new electronic bollards in the city centre of Burgos. During the next months a total of 26 bollards will be installed in the city centre in order to complete the downtown traffic management system including a strategy of access restriction.

This system is part of measure 6.2 of the CiViTAS CARAVEL project in the City of Burgos. The system is connected with the Traffic Management Centre (measure 12.4) to ensure the necessary 24 hours per day availability. Many meetings have been organised with shop owners, hotels and the general neighbourhood in the affected area in order to have an agreement with all the stakeholders involved. A first great success of the measure is the basic common agreement itself to introduce the measure. In the meanwhile all who are concerned by the measure explain their satisfaction and hapiness with the measure.
