Presentation of 27 new biodiesel buses and two new CNG buses
As part of its ongoing efforts to improve the municipal public transport fleet, the Council has procured 27 new biodiesel buses (outside of the Caravel project) and, this time within the CiViTAS CARAVEL project, presented four new CNG buses.
The average age of buses in the city has gone from eleven years at the start of the CiViTAS Caravel project to its current average age of a little over two years. The procurement, outside of the project, of 27 new buses able to run on 100% biodiesel, reflecting a decision to move beyond the original objectives of the project, has led to the complete renewal of the entire public fleet. At present, 100% of the fleet is perfectly accessible for people with disabilities and has all necessary equipment. The four buses procured through the CiViTAS programme gave a further boost to the project and increased its visibility to the public.
