Second CIVITAS Activity Fund call to open on 19 September

CIVITAS Initiative

The CIVITAS Activity Fund aims to support take-up activities in the field of sustainable urban mobility to cities across Europe. A new call, to be launched on 19 September 2014, will cover the four CIVITAS thematic areas of collective passenger transport, mobility management, car-independent lifestyles and public involvement, and will offer a total of 80.000 EUR.

The first call was launched in February 2014 and 11 projects of 22 that applied were selected for a total amount of co-funding of around 55.000 EUR. The new call hopes to build on this success and receive more applications from cities interested in further engaging in sustainable mobility measures.

Funding is available across four take-up levels: being inspired, structural dialogue, studies, and systematic transfer. Co-funding of up to 50 percent is available to successful applicants. The call differs from the first call earlier this year in several respects. Private entities working for and owned by public authorities are now eligible to apply.

The take-up levels will be identical as well i.e.:

  1. Being inspired: Up to 50% co-funding for study tours, workshops or similar activities at the initial take-up phase;
  2. Structural dialogue: Up to 50% co-funding for staff exchanges between take-up and pioneer cities;
  3. Studies: Up to 50% co-funding for evaluation (long-term; impact and process), feasibility studies, etc.;
  4. Systematic transfer: Up to 50% co-funding for feasibility studies leading towards pilot demonstration and implementation.

Applications may be submitted by individual or groups of organisations that have not been or are not involved in projects already funded by CIVITAS. They must be established in an EU Member State or Albania, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Israel, Kosovo, Montenegro, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland or Turkey.

The call will be open for five weeks and applications will be submitted online. The deadline for applications will be 31 October 2014.
